The city of Barcelona has been named World Capital of Architecture 2026 by UNESCO. Throughout the year, the city will host exhibitions, debates, conferences, and the World Congress of Architecture, which will bring together professionals from around the world in the Catalan capital.
But what is a city and, more specifically, what is Barcelona? How was it built? Who built it? What will it be like in the coming years?
To explore these questions, we will visit the Pla de Barcelona 2026–2035 model, displayed at the former headquarters of the Gustavo Gili publishing house, and share viewpoints, questions, dreams, and concerns about the city we inhabit: from its origins to the most immediate expansion plans. We will also take the opportunity to discover the interior of one of the most outstanding examples of Brutalist architecture in the city.
And how about finishing the visit with a coffee to continue the conversation?
