The exhibition delves into the imagination of Catalan writer Mercè Rodoreda, highlighting the radical nature of her literature. Curated by Neus Penalba, it offers a journey through the major themes of her work, understanding them as a network of signifiers that, like the roots and branches of a tree, extend into complex and intertwined layers of meaning.

The poetics of this great 20th-century novelist are built from recurring gestures in her stories and novels—spying, watching, witnessing death, choking, drowning, transforming…—featuring houses with and without gardens, streets, and squares, but above all filled with trees and botanical tropes.
